Old Hunting Story

This is one that I've heard a few times growing up.  To be honest, not sure who the protagonist is.  He's either my great-grand father, my grandfather or one of their friends.  The story goes like this though:  The fellow is out bow hunting, or more specifically hunting deer with a bow.  He's up in his stand and has been there for a while.  Finally a deer comes walking by.  The hunter takes aim and lets an arrow fly.  The deer is struck.  He runs a little ways and then falls over.

The hunter stays in his stand for some more time waiting for more deer.  Nothing comes by so he eventually climbs down from his tree stand and walks over to his kill.  His custom is to always make sure the deer is dead so he takes out his knife and proceeds to grab an antler.  Then all of a sudden the deer starts standing up.

He doesn't want to let em get away, so the hunter slits the deer's throat cutting his jugular to finish em off as quick as he can.  Finally the deer dies and the hunter field dresses him.  As he's carrying the deer out of the woods he comes across the deer that he actually shot with his bow earlier while up in his stand .....
